Vikram Seth is great an Indian novelist and poet. Unclaimed is a short, but different poem by Vikram Seth. By unclaimed, the poet means someone over whom no one has any claim or right.

          The poet describe the benefit of making love with this someone over with no one has any claim and who is unknown to the partner that makes love to her. This kind of love is free from any responsibility and obligation. The lovers involved in the act of love making do not feel any  regate and repentence.

         The poet thinks it that the best to make love with a stranger as it free from all fears ,worries and test. In this poem, the poet against the institution of marriage. It is in favour of free society. The poet promotes such a modern human world in which people have no faith in permanent relations. He regards marriage as an outdated custom. He advices to touch and love stranger for such a relation is free from the thoughts of past or future.

                  The title of the poem unclaimed suggests to us to make love with an unknown partner over whom no one has any claim. The poet teaches is that it is a best to make love with a stranger. The poet points out various advantages of making love with a stranger.

                 The theme of the poet is very clear. The poet says that, when something is unclaimed, no one has any objection if someone takes it in his possession. It is free from all puzzling questions, trial, false promise and faithfulness. The blue expressed in the poem is against our social, religious and moral values.

                The language of the poem is not difficult, but the throat express in it is involved. The poet is a supporter of the modern immoral Outlook which people express when they say and forget.

               The poem give a message of immoral or free love. It is against our social values. Most of the people would like a settled life and a developed partner. That the poet is against this vi BHew. The poets view is immoral and anarchic.

            Vikram Seth is a modern poet of  untraditional nature.
