A major rail accident happened on 2 June, 2023, at around 7:0 p.m, near Baharanagar Bazar railway station Balasore, Odisha. Three trains collision occurred between the Bengaluru Howrah superfast express, Shalimar channai Central Coromandel Express and a stationary goods train.
      Railway investigation revealed that a signal was given to Coromandel Express to enter the main line. But it was taken of and the train enter the loop line and crashed into a goods train parked there. It's derailed coaches fall out the front of Howrah superfast express. Railway offical said, "This rail accident is one of the worst in resent time". At about 296 ( mostly general category couch passengers) were dead and around 1200 passenger injured and 793 released rest admitted. The rescue team took the help to rescue the people. The injured people were taken to nearest hospital.
     The honourable Prime minister and Chief minister visited the site of the accident and met injured people reciving treatment in the hospital. The railway ministry has announced 10 lakh for each dead and 2 lakh to those severely injured and 50, 000 to those who sustained with minor injuries.
