Answer each of the following questions in about 30 words:
Q1. Who was the astrologer? What does his Paraphernalia consist of?
Ans :- The Astrologer was once an ordinary farmer. He lived in a village which he left and settled away a couple of hundred miles to the South. His Paraphernalia consisted of a dozen cowrie shells, a square of cloth with obscure mystic charts on it, a notebook and a bundle of Palmyra writting.
Q2. How did the astrologer acquire knowledge of his profession?
Ans :- When the astrologer begin his life, he had not in the least intended to be an astrologer. Yet he said things which pleased and astonished everyone that was more a matter of study, practice and Shrewd guesswork.
Q3. What did the astrologer tell Guru Nayak about his enemie's death?
Ans :- The astrologer told Guru Nayak that his enemy was crushed under a lorry for months ago in a far off town.
Q4. How was it a remarkable place where the astrologer set?
Ans :- He set along a path under a tamarind tree in the town hall park. A surging crowd was always moving up and down this narrow road, morning till night. A variety of traders sold their wares along the path.
Q5. Why did the stranger hold the astrologer's wrist?
Ans :- When the astrologer wanted to get rid of the stranger, he returned him his aana, he did not accept such challenges and it was late for him that day. He made preparations to bundle up. At this the stranger held his wrist.
Q6. What made the astrologer feel very uncomfortable?
Ans :- When the stranger was smoking his cigar and puffing out, the astrologer come to know that was the man who he had thrown into a well and thought him to be death.
Q7. What encouraged the Astrologer to make a good deal of haggling with the stranger- his prophetic knowledge or his Shrewdness? Explain.
Ans :- It was his Shrewdness that encouraged the astrologer to make a good deal of haggling. He come to the conclusion that the stranger had not recognised him.
Q8. Why did the astrologer Utter the name 'Guru Nayak'? What talisman did the Astrologer give to his customer?
Ans :- The Astrologer Uttered the name 'Guru Nayak' because it was the trick of his trade so that his client might confide in him. The Astrologer took out a pinch of sacred ash and gave it to his customer, saying, "Rub it on your forehead and go home. Never travel southward again, and you will live to be a hundred."
Q9. Do you know a great load is gone from me today? Who said it and why?
Ans :- The Astrologer said it to his wife. He thought he had to blood of man on his hands all those years. That was the reason why he run away from home, settled there, and married her. But that man was alive.
Q10. Why was the Astrologer's wife pleased to have so much money? What did she propose to do?
Ans :- When the Astrologer's wife had so much money she was very pleased because it was the first time that she got so money. She proposed that she would prepare some nice stuff for her child.
