What was the writing skill of mulk Raj Anand


 "Untouchable" by mulk Raj Anand shows clearly his language and style. He made use of common people language in his novels. It shows his attachment with a large number of man woman and children who belong to the lowest castes of untouchables. He said them closing and took inspirations from them while writing is novels and short stories. His styles certainly shows him as a great artist.

His language

His language shows how much he made use of the Indian phraseology in his novels. It was the direct result of the pressure  of his mother's milk. To bring about greater effect in his works, he use the common language of his characters belonging to the lowest costest of the Indian society.

                 To give greater effect t his ideas and feelings thought his expression, he always translated the idea from the original Punjabi into English. It was with his main purpose of giving greater effect and local colouring to the feelings of all man, woman and children as characters in his novels. He himself admitted that he chiefly thought in Punjabi and Hindustani but very little in English.

His style

Certainly it is a very serious problem for an Indian writer to write in English with a set or definite style. Mulk Raj Anand family says that an Indian writer to English finds much difficulty in writing English poetry rather than writing English prose.

Anand style should be judged from the point of view of his theory of Indian English style. There is sufficient proof of literal translations from Punjabi into English. To expresses his ideas well he uses more words and a lot of adjectives. In his lyrical style, even his prose seems to be poetry.

His technique

Mulk Raj Anand has used the special technique of the steam of consciousness in writing "untouchable."does he changed his traditional narrative technique of telling a tale which he commonly used in his other novels. Through his special technique, Anand succeded in expressing fully and freely the storm of rebellious ideas going on his the mind of Barkha, the most important character of this novel. The readers, in this way can peep into his suffering soul.

Conclusion

In short mulk Raj Anand should be remembered bell and honoured much for his simple language the use of local words and effective style. Does today we remember him as a great short story writer.
